Once part of the Chauhan Kingdom of Rajasthan, Mount Abu was the summer retreat of the Rajasthan royalty. Later it was leased to the British by the then Maharaja of Sirohi. But the sage decided to fill the gorge in order to avoid this kind of mishap in future and asked son of the Himalaya to fill the chasm. The son of the Himalaya did this with the help of Arbud, the giant snake.
