Jaiselmer Fort
Bahtti Rajput Ruler Jaisala built the Jaisalmer Fort in 1156 AD and the subsequent rulers made several additions. The fort occupies a crowning position on the 80 m high Trikuta Hill. The fort is surrounded by 99 bastions and is guarded by three walls. The lower wall is made of solid stone blocks, which strengthen the loose rubble of the Trikuta Hill. The second and the third wall cover the fort. The fort has several residential complexes, temples and handicraft shops.
Patwan-Ki-Haveli
Patwan-Ki-Haveli was built between 1800 and 1860 AD. It is believed that five Jain brothers who had made their fortunes by trading in jewelry and fine brocades constructed this haveli. The haveli is divided into five apartments. The first haveli houses a private museum displaying old furnishings and household items and a shop. The second and fifth havelis are under government control. The third haveli houses an antique shop. The fourth haveli is a private residence is not open for public view.
Nathamlji-Ki-Haveli
Nathamlji-Ki-Haveli was constructed somewhere in the late19th century. The haveli was used as the Prime Minister's residence and has an exquisite facade. Elephants carved out of yellow sandstone guard the building.
Salim Singh-Ki-Haveli
Salim Singh built the Salim Singh-Ki-Haveli and is a private haveli. Salim Singh was the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer, when it was the capital of a princely state. This haveli is also adorned with stone elephants in the front, which were earlier erected before the residences of the prime ministers. The haveli is built without mortar or cement and the stones are connected with tongue-and-groove joints.
