Jai Samand Lake
Jaisamand Lake, 6 km from Alwar, is a beautiful artificial lake. Maharaja Jai Singh constructed the lake in 1910 AD. The Lake sight blooms with greenery during the monsoons, which makes it a visual delight. Jai Samand Lake is ideal for picnics, excursion trips, water sports and angling.
Silisher Lake
Silisher Lake, 13 km from Alwar, is an artificial lake. Maharaja Vinay Singh constructed the lake in 1845 AD for his Queen Sheila. The lake was built by storing the water of a small tributary of river Ruparel by constructing an earthen dam between two hills. The lake lies in the picturesque location amidst the forested slopes of Aravalli Hills.
Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary
Sariska was the royal hunting place of the erstwhile rulers of Alwar. It was demarked as a sanctuary in the year 1958. The sanctuary came under the Project Tiger in 1979 and became a national park in 1982. Sariska is located at Kankwari Fort near Alwar.
The beautiful Silisher Lake runs along the edge of the reserve. The sanctuary house tigers, panther, jungle cat, jackal, hyena, sambar, chital, wild boar, hare, nilgai and porcupine. The avifauna of the national park includes the pea fowl, gray partridge, quail, sand grouse, tree pie, white breasted kingfisher, golden - backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle and great Indian horned owl.
